Emily Long

Emily joined Kartemquin in November 2021. As Director of Development, she enjoys helping to grow the organization’s fundraising capacities and working with filmmakers to find support for their projects.

Prior to Kartemquin, Emily was the Assistant Director of Development at Film at Lincoln Center. From 2017-2021, she oversaw institutional and government funding as well as the membership and patron programs, day-to-day department operations, and donor experiences at special events and festivals including the New York Film Festival and the Chaplin Award Gala. Prior to FLC, Emily was the Director of Communications and Development for The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project), a grassroots media literacy education organization which served communities throughout New York City.

Emily is thrilled to be back in Chicago after eighteen years in New York. She grew up in the suburbs and got her B.F.A. in Theater Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She also has her M.F.A. in Dramaturgy and Script Development from Columbia University. In her spare time, she can be found running along the lake, knitting, watching soccer and very slowly teaching herself to play guitar.
