Lainey Canevaro

Lainey Canevaro Weinstein spent more than 25 years working in marketing communications across the non-profit, consumer, health, sports and entertainment industries. She started her career working for Best Buddies International (BBI) and Special Olympics International (SOI) – organizations that create and support global programming for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Her work at SOI included global communications, sponsor, board of director and honored guest programming across national and international events as well as support for two Special Olympics World Games.

During her tenure with global PR and Marketing firms, Edelman and Ketchum, her primary charge was developing strategic campaigns for Fortune 500 clients. She led campaigns for major companies and brands such as Best Buy, Brita (Clorox), Burger King, Chevrolet, Major League Baseball, National Football League, Sharpie, Whirlpool, Wm. Wrigley, Jr. Company, UPS and the United States Tennis Association. She focused on navigating complex relationships across multiple-stakeholders, driving communications and securing impactful business results for her clients.

In addition, Lainey was able to marry her personal commitment to social issues and her professional life through key leadership roles for clients with groundbreaking social purpose campaigns. With the American Heart Association – Go Red for Women campaign – her work supported raising awareness of heart disease as the #1 killer of women and helping to reduce the risk of heart disease in women through health education and community building. Brita Filter For Good was one of the first major corporate campaigns to combat single-use plastic waste and raise awareness of the devastating impacts of plastic on the environment. Both campaigns drove positive social impact and business outcomes in their areas and won multiple industry awards for their effectiveness and creativity.

Currently Lainey supports a variety of Chicago-based non-profit, social justice, cultural and education focused programs in communications, fundraising and strategic counsel roles. She lives in the Chicago South Loop with her husband, two teen daughters, and her Bernadoodle pup.
